Single Rent Reduction Act

When is rent reduction application possible?

  • Your lease started before March 1, 2023.
  • You have not already had a rent reduction in 2023 under the Single Rent Reduction Act 2023. This was a rent reduction to € 575.03
  • Your rent in 2024 is higher than € 577,91.
  • You collectively have a low income.

At the time of your application, the income of the last six consecutive months is taken into account. We concert that income into an annual income. If your income is lower than or equal to the income limits in the list below, you can apply to us for a one-off rent reduction. This is possible till 30 December 2024.

  • Single-person households (without state pension) with an income up to and including € 12.420
  • Single-person households (with state pension) with an income up to and including € 13.215

Do you have an income within the income limits below?

If so, you are unfortunately not eligible for the Single Rent Reduction Act, but we still want to do something for you. If you can prove that you meet the conditions below, we can reverse your rent increase from 1 july 2024. This is an exception from Lieven de Key.

Do you have a lower income after income-related rent increase?

Then you can ask us to reverse the income-related rent increase. This is only possible for the last 3 rent increases. Look for more information at huurcommissie.nl.

Do you have a lower income that entitles you to housing benefit (huurtoeslag)?

And is your rent is too high for housing benefit? Then your rent can sometimes be reduced so that you can qualify for housing benefit. You can request a rent reduction if the rent has risen above the housing benefit limit (2024: €879.66) due to one or more income related rent increases. And if the household income has subsequently fallen below the standard income for the housing benefit. For more information, contact us at info@lievendekey.nl.
