In Amsterdam and Diemen, you can express an interest in a property if you are registered with MijnDak. Registration costs € 50,- plus an annual renewal fee of € 8,-.

Correct details

Your income and the composition of your household are key for determining what home and rent you are eligible for. Make sure you properly registered you combined income and family composition with Woningnet or Woonservice.

Viewing homes

Are you on the list of highest ranking candidates for a home? You will receive an invitation from Lieven de Key for a viewing. When you don’t react to his invitation (or too late), the offer will lapse.

Accepting (or not)

You need to inform Woningnet or Woonservice of whether you wish to accept the property or not by 12.00 AM on the second day following the viewing.

Uploading documents

Did you accept the home and are you the first candidate? That means you can rent the home when you meet all of the terms. At that point, your registration will be ‘frozen’, meaning that you will not be offered any other properties via Woningnet.

To see if you are able to meet all of the terms, we need to check some of your details. You will receive an email with a login for youe Lieven de Key account. You will also receive a link to our website where you can fill out and upload the following information and documents:

  • Social security number (burgerservicenummer)
  • Landlord statement (verhuurdersverklaring)
  • An extract from the Municipal Personal Records Database or BRP (when you don’t live in Amsterdam)
  • Income statement from tax authorities (less than 2 years old )

Don’t have an income? We will still need an income statement from the tax authorities.

Sign your agreement online

Did your documents get approved? You will receive another email with a link where you will do the following:

  • Sign your rental agreement online.
  • Order a nameplate.
  • Join tenants association Arcade. (optional)
  • Add a maintenance contract. (optional)
  • Allow De Key to withdraw the rent from your bank account every month by direct debit.
  • Complete your first payment using iDEAL.

The first payment consists of:

  • The initial gross monthly rent (unless when it’s after the 20th of the month, then you will also pay for the rent until the end of the current month).
  • A deposit equal to the net monthly rent.
  • Administration costs.

'Welcome home'

After signing your contract and successfully completing your first payment you will receive an email with an invitation to your new home. During this meeting a caretaker will welcome you in your new home and hand you your keys. He will show you the home and tell you what you need to know. You can also ask any questions you have. After that, you can get settled.
